Playing the Bagpipes to say the final goodbye to a loved one needs to be done with the utmost sensitivity.
Times when the Piper plays includes:
-
Entrance to the service
-
Lowering of the deceased during a cremation
-
Exit from the service
-
During the carry after the service or the carry to the graveside
-
After the committal
The tunes a Piper normally plays are called Laments but a favorite Hymn or tune can also be chosen. Some relatives choose a more uplifting march to be played at the conclusion of the Funeral.
